Naomi Braun
If you’re looking for something smooth to surface from the Australian music industry then look no further than Melbourne singer/songwriter Naomi Braun who has just released her debut album, titled ‘Through The Devils Wood’.
There is just so much to love about this album and as a massive fan of Lenka and her work with Decoder Ring I have to admit that ‘Through The Devils Wood’ deserves to be stacked alongside them on the shelf.
Braun’s first single, ‘Deeper; which kicks off the album sounds very similar to the work that Bjork has been doing over the years and it certainly warrants radio play, it is followed up by ‘How Right’ a track that early on seems to lose its way but once it kicks into the rockier chorus certainly finds its way and it is certain to become a track you’ll want to listen to over and over.
Tracks like ‘I Get Carried Away’ and ‘Rap ‘N’ Ryhme Me’ see Braun capture a really jazzy sound but she clearly sounds her best when delivering smooth tracks like ‘Another Lifetime’, ‘Through The Devils Wood’, ‘Beg The Dub (Love)’, ‘Foolish Girl’ and ‘So High’.
The album peaks with ‘Live In Lies’ which features the rap vocals of Gabriel, and its those vocals that life the track to a whole different level. Then of course there is ‘Never Coming Back’ which really feels like it is lifting you out into space through the stars.
‘Through The Devils Wood is a stunning debut album that clearly shows that Naomi Braun has a big future ahead of her.
