by Jack Peterson

The Tree Of Life :

In what only could be described as a major surprise Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree Of Life’ has walked away with the Best Overseas Film Award at the Australian Film Critics Association awards in Melbourne this weekend.

‘The Tree Of Life’ beat films such as ‘Drive’ and ‘Melancholia’ in the awards which are voted by 60 of Australia’s top film critics and journalists. The win came as a surprise as the film seemed to split reviewers right around the world.

Australian film ‘Snowtown’ was also a big winner on the night taking home the Best Australian Film Award and then received more cudos with lead actor Daniel Henshall winning Best Actor, Justin Kerzel winning Best Director and Shaun Grant rounding it out with Best Screenplay. The controversial ‘Snowtown’ also recently was the big winner at the ACTA Awards.
